Dr. Vukmanovic Nosrat obtained her DDS degree from Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm-Sweden and has worked as a general practitioner at two dental clinics in Sweden. She received her PhD degree in Neuroscience, also from Karolinska Institutet. Dr. Vukmanovic analyzed the expression of neurotrophic factors in the taste system and teeth, the interactions between dental pulp cells and motor neurons after spinal cord injury, and the possible life promoting effect of dental pulp cells on dopaminergic neurons. She also studied the gene expression in transgenic mouse-lines overexpressing BDNF in their taste buds, its innervation and morphology. In 2012, Dr. Vukmanovic joined SWAGÊÓƵ and her research interest has been focusing on prevention of chemotherapy-induced taste dysfunction in BDNF overexpressing mice. She teaches pre-clinical dentistry, neuroscience and biostatistics.
