WHAT INSPIRES ME
Aging and dying well inspire me. Longevity is not just a goal but a mindset鈥攊t reflects the importance of nurturing both body and mind in our everyday actions. In the words of many elders before me, 鈥淎ct like you mean something鈥 encompasses your time, the company you keep, and the way you carry yourself in this world. Who are you when no one is looking?
I find inspiration in great storytelling鈥攕trong narratives that challenge beliefs and expand the mind. The wisdom I receive from my godson and nephew, along with that of celebrated writers and artists, fuels my curiosity.
I am also inspired by the grit in people鈥攖heir tenacity and confidence in their actions.
WELLBEING
I strive to remain in awe of the world around me: the music of the birds, the fresh morning air, the sound of laughter. There is beauty everywhere, and there is always something or someone to marvel at.
I am on a 鈥測es鈥 journey, opening myself to all that resonates with me.
MIND -
Some of my favorite reads include Fences*by August Wilson, The Voyage of the Sable Venus by Robin Coste Lewis, The Vegetarian by Han Kang, Unaccustomed Earth by Jhumpa Lahiri, Another Brooklyn by Jacqueline Woodson, Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe, and Little Bee by Chris Cleave, among others.
Reading and writing are vital to my existence, serving as both an outlet and an inlet. I embody every hero and every villain.
BODY -
I love the stationary bike and any intense exercise that demands my full focus, allowing me to tune into my body to achieve my goals.
SELF -
I believe in the restorative practice of grounding oneself, bringing all parts of you鈥攑ast and future鈥攊nto the present moment. When I ground myself, I become more aware of what is within my control, as well as the tools and people I have in my life.
When I am grounded, I am whole.
SOCIAL -
My friends and I enjoy strolling and chatting鈥攍ong lunches and even longer dinners. I love visiting botanical gardens whenever I can, especially in new cities; nature never fails to inspire awe.
INTEREST/HOBBIES
I have a passion for watching Zombie movies from around the world. There鈥檚 something about the exploration of human nature in these moments that is consistently surprising and sometimes even inspiring.
