Dr. Philip Kwok graduated from the University of California-Berkeley, School of Optometry and completed a residency in Hospital-Based Optometry at the Fresno VA Medical Center. He has a background primarily working with sub-specialists in ophthalmology (refractive, cornea, cataract, retina, glaucoma) to achieve the best surgical outcomes possible. His areas of interest are mainly in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of ocular disease, particularly the more challenging cases. Having clinical experience in a variety of practice settings, he has also been able to observe the many methods of eye care delivery, and seeks to improve its efficiencies.
Dr. Kwok enjoyed his years in teaching, first as a resident at the Fresno VA Medical Center, and then as clinical faculty at Southern California College of Optometry (Marshall B. Ketchum University). He believes the only thing more professionally rewarding than personally managing ocular disease is to be able to teach it to others. In July 2018, he joined Western University College of Optometry as Chief of Primary Care with a desire to continue sharing his knowledge and experience with students.
