Welcome Dr. Lisa Warren, Dean of COMP & COMP-Northwest
Office of the Provost
April 10, 2024
Dear SWAGÊÓƵ Students, Faculty, and Staff,
I am pleased to announce that after conducting a rigorous national search, SWAGÊÓƵ has selected Lisa Warren, DO, MBA as Dean of the College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific (COMP) and COMP-Northwest, effective July 1, 2024.
Dr. Warren’s accomplished proficiency in student performance, business management, graduate medical education, and osteopathic professionalism position her well for successfully leading in these challenging times for medical education. During her tenure at SWAGÊÓƵ, she has held direct oversight and responsibility for placement of medical students into their residencies of choice. Successful residency placement is the highest national performance metric for medical schools, placing significant impact on the achieved outcomes of her department.
As the Assistant Dean for Graduate Medical Education, Dr. Warren strategically positioned SWAGÊÓƵ as a proactive catalyst in the development and establishment of new residency programs, expanding opportunities for both our graduates and the communities they serve. While completing her MBA in 2018, the OPTI West GME Consortium promoted her to CEO and Designated Institutional Official. In this position, she had oversight across 4 states, 19 training programs and 8 individual organizations. Under her leadership, significant improvements were implemented which improved the process and timelines for residency development.
Dr. Warren was the Founding Director of the Office of Career and Professional Development for the college in 2013. She has maintained oversight across both campuses, increasing the department’s capacity in parallel to student need. As one of the largest medical schools in the nation, the student success rates of COMP and COMP-Northwest bear significant challenges in managing the volume of student board score and residency placement outcomes each year. Under Dr. Warren’s leadership, the college has scored an average of 5 % higher than the national benchmark for residency placement over the past seven years.
During her service as Clinical Chair of Pediatrics, Dr. Warren helped lead the transformation of COMP and COMP-Northwest’s medical education curriculum. As a proud alum of COMP, her leadership and collaboration with other chairs helped facilitate positive change in both student performance and student experience. While in this faculty leadership role, she began her leadership training by attending the distinguished Costin Institute for Osteopathic Educators as a Costin Scholar. This, combined with her years of academic tenure, achieved MBA degree, and service as CEO of OPTI West, have prepared her to successfully lead COMP and COMP-Northwest into the future.
Dr. Warren brings both her passion as a proud alum and expertise in academic leadership to her new role as dean. Her commitment to our students’ success in becoming osteopathic physicians will ensure the future success of the college and the health and wellness of the communities we serve. We look forward to the continued success of COMP & COMP-Northwest under her leadership.
On behalf of the entire community at COMP and COMP-Northwest, I would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Connett for his unwavering dedication and exemplary service as Acting Dean. His leadership has been instrumental in continuing our osteopathic medicine mission and fostering an environment of academic excellence and innovation.
Please join me in congratulating him on his promotion to Vice President of Healthcare System Partnerships, where he will continue his long history, passion, and nationally recognized expertise in Graduate Medical Education (GME). In this new role, he will help guide us into a new era of Graduate Medical Education (GME) development and collaborations. We are excited to strategically advance our GME partnerships under his capable stewardship. His steadfast dedication to GME development and fostering health system collaborations has been a source of inspiration and national recognition for decades, and we eagerly anticipate the continued advancement in these vital areas under his ongoing leadership.
Recognizing the time commitment and dedication required for a rigorous national search, I sincerely thank Search Committee Chair, Dean Sunil Prabhu and the COMP and COMP-Northwest Search Committee members for their thorough process.
Please join me in welcoming Dr. Lisa Warren as our new Dean of COMP & COMP-Northwest.
With warmest regards,
Paula M. Crone, DO
