Dr. Maria Pallavicini is a biomedical scientist with a long history in academic affairs and administration. She recently retired after spending 12 years as the Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs at the University of the Pacific. During her tenure, she also served as the University’s Interim President from 2019-2020. Prior to joining Pacific, she was the Founding Dean of the School of Natural Sciences at the University of California-Merced. In her early career, Dr. Pallavicini was a professor and scientist at the University of California- San Francisco and Lawrence Livermore/Berkeley Biology National Laboratories. She received a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from the University of California-Berkeley, earned a Ph.D. in Pharmacology from the University of Utah, and completed postdoctoral training at the Ontario Cancer Institute in Toronto, Canada.
